Book Summary

This gripping, chillingly realistic novel from New York Times bestselling author Sharon Draper, “by turns pulse-pounding and inspiring” (Kirkus Reviews), shows that all it takes is one bad decision for a dream to become a nightmare.

Diamond knows not to get into a car with a stranger.

But what if the stranger is well-dressed and handsome? On his way to meet his wife and daughter? And casting a movie that very night—a movie in need of a star dancer? What then?

Then Diamond might make the wrong decision.

It’s a nightmare come true: Diamond Landers has been kidnapped. She was at the mall with a friend, alone for only a few brief minutes—and now she’s being held captive, forced to endure horrors beyond what she ever could have dreamed, while her family and friends experience their own torments and wait desperately for any bit of news.

From New York Times bestselling author Sharon Draper, this is a riveting exploration of power: how quickly we can lose it—and how we can take it back.

I am not a big reader, but i could not stop reading this book . The book had so many climaxes . I enjoy when so much is happening at once like this book, because it keeps your interest and it builds up the suspense on what will happen later . The ending was amazing and the book overall was too . Book is a great book for starters too .

I am a huge fan of Sharon M Draper and I personally enjoy her novels. With her plots and ideas her books are simply stunning. Although I was majorly disappointed with her newest novel Panic. I feel like it potentially was written to fast and the whole book was out of order. Supposedly the characters and peers of Diamond the main character were suppose to be grieving about her disappearance all while struggling and coping with there own feeling and hurt. Although this was not at all what I witnessed. I saw characters who were selfish and to caught up in there own pathetic problems to show sympathy for there lost friend who they seem to not really care about. There was only only one character named Mercedes who really seemed interested and portrays about Diamond being kidnapped. I was also disappointed that Diamond the main character had very few parts in the story. I don't see how she can be a main character when she hardly is even mentioned about. I felt like Ms. Draper just used her to tangle in with her other characters. I simply felt like this book was garbage and I am deeply saddened.

The description of the book drew me in. The story line, however, was not very well developed... I also didn't like how the characters spoke "ghetto". Detracted from the story line in my opinion. I feel like it was a waste of $10 or however much I spent.

I didn't like this book that much it sounded good but it wasn't. The development of the story was bad the dialogue was boring and I don't think it was well written. It was an okay book but I would not recommend it.

This is a fabulous book. For a teen/tween. This book says that it's a children's book but I would not rate it that. Definitely a book for Tweens and teenagers.

This book was probably one of the best books I have ever read. Sharon M. Draper is the best writer I have ever been so into. Her books have a way of speaking that no other books do.

Best book ever and it kept me ready for 2 days in a row but I didn't like how some ( not all) chapters were not the most interesting. I was still amazing and I loved which person it was written in.
